FLEAS

The size of an adult flea ranges from 1.5 to 3.3 mm in length. Color it is usually dark. Fleas are wingless insects; their feet are long, with the hind pair well adapted for jumping. The lifespan of an adult flea can be up to a year or several years. Females flea can lay 5,000 or more eggs in their lifetime.
Flea bites can result in hair loss and infection secondary due to itching of irritated bite areas on the host.
Fleas are known vectors of several pathogens, such as the bacterium Yersinia
pestis (formerly Pasteurella pestis), commonly known as plague.
